Self-initiated concept project hero06
Overview

Tide & Timber is a self-initiated coffee brand inspired by the Pacific Northwest, where mountain trails, evergreen forests and the coast all meet. The idea was to create a neighbourhood coffee company with the warmth of a familiar café and the spirit of an everyday adventure.

The circular badge tells that full story in one place: mountains and timber above, tide and coffee below. A steaming cup sits at the centre, connecting the landscape to the daily ritual that brings people together.

01

The challenge

Outdoor-inspired coffee brands often occupy the same visual territory. Tide & Timber needed to feel rugged without becoming severe, nostalgic without feeling dated, and detailed enough to tell a story while remaining clear on a cup, coffee bag, café sign or small stamp.

02

The approach

I built the identity around an illustrated circular emblem that moves from mountains to forest to sea, with the coffee cup acting as the visual anchor. A heritage serif gives the name character, while a condensed sans keeps supporting information practical. Deep navy, forest green and sea blue create the Pacific Northwest foundation, softened by cream, kraft paper, warm sand and a restrained golden accent.

03 / The result

Rooted in nature.
Made for the everyday ritual.

A warm, adaptable coffee identity that feels equally at home on a neighbourhood café sign, a bag of beans or a flask carried into the mountains. The system balances outdoor character with everyday hospitality, giving Tide & Timber a distinct world built around good coffee, wild places and warm hearts.
